The Welsh Music Plan

Music is a vital part of Education in Wales and also is embedded in the Buttington Trewern ethos of ‘Living and Learning ‘.

Across the school year every pupil performs as part of the whole class in events such as Harvest Festival, School Christmas Plays, School Eisteddfod and Leavers Assembly. These opportunities build self esteem and confidence. Additionally there are opportunities for pupils to perform individually and in small groups.

We are often invited to use our music making in the community with performances at Welshpool High School as well as supporting community events where possible.

We actively seek opportunities to work with and to be inspired by professional musicians for example working with  Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra and Mid Wales Opera.

Curriculum music is delivered through Expressive Arts sessions with class teachers and also during enrichment afternoons using Chranga and class sets of instruments including: pcorders, pbuzzes, jambe drums or toots.

Additionally all children who receive instrumental tuition are giving opportunities to perform solos at events throughout the school year. Where possible the school also offers after school music opportunities.

We are fortunate to have an excellent peripatetic music teacher who visit us weekly in instruments such as piano, drums, guitar. To find out more about fees and times please contact the school office.
